Can Good Muslims Be Terrorists?
This feature is taken from E.A.9.11, Group 8. See the entire discussion: What do you guys think of this bombing of Isreal by the Muslims?.

I for one have to say that this continuous 2-week-bombing by the Muslims is horrible. I think that it is so sad how people can go shopping for a pair of socks and be killed. It is like another Holocaust.

I think that what the Muslims are doing is wrong! How can they not see that their laws from the Koran are unjust!?To Kill people who are Jewish or Christian to go straight to heaven is disgusting. I think that the Islamic religion is horrific and a disgrace to the human society. Anyone who denies the obvious laws of Islam is blind to the facts.

I do not hate Muslims themselves but their religion. I just wish that these victims in Israel are forgiving because this never ending hell will hold them in their tracks for years to come. I do not want to truly hurt anyone feelings by my comments but this is my opinion!

I think that the bombings and constant violence in Israel is terrible. I feel very sad for the Israelis whenever I hear of any bombings. But I also feel sad for the Palistinians.

This is a difficult situation, because while it does seem Israelis are on the defensive, often they are on the offensive also. There are time when there is an Isreali suicide bomber, not a Palistinian. This horrific violence is affecting everyone negativly, not just the Isrealis.

You must also realize that Palistinians and Isrealis are extremely segregated in Isreal, and it is also the Palistinian's country, it does not just belong to the Isrealies. It is a horrible thing.

I also don't agree with what was said about Islam. While I am not islamic, it is my impression that Islam is a very peaceful religion. It has also been around longer than Christianity. It is not the Islamic who are wrong, but the extremests. there are also extremest Christian groups as well. take Northern Ireland for example. Northern Ireland has been plauged by terrorist acts much like Isreal, only it is between the Roman Catholics and Protestant religions, not Islam and Jewdism.

The Muslims kill in the name of allah like Christians kill in the name of Christ. To say "the Islamic religion is horrific and a disgrace to human society" is naive. It is not the religion, but the extreme believers who are a danger to "human society".

Bombings are a terrible thing. The fear brought on by the dangers of bombing Isreal is too immense for a person to consider that all this hatred is amongst us.

Their god engages them in the right that killing one's self they will get rewarded. I think that all this needs to stop. I don't mean in a few days or in a year, but needs to stop right now.

All this hatred is or has effected you in one way or another. We as citizens of the U.S. and allying countries need to join forces into act as one to pull through this.

Something you need to remember though is, it isn't the religion. Every religion is perfect in it's true form, it is people that screw it up. You think those people killing others are truly follows a "religion of peace" no they aren't. I am a Christian but there are a hwole lot of so called "Christians" out there that lie, cheat, steal, fornicate, and worse things. But it's because they call themselves "Christians" that the face of Christianity gets disfigured. I don't think it is the religions fault, it's the people that are turning it to their own desires and screwing it up.

As an American who converted to Islam about a year ago, I would like to correct some misconceptions.

First of all, "sentfr0mabove" and "horsej", I think it is very sad that you feel that way about our religion. What is happening to Islam right now is similar to (though, if possible, even uglier than) the problem of sexual abuse in the Catholic church. Many, many more people are out there practicing both Islam and Catholocism in a harmless, peaceful manner than are doing this sort of damage.

We peaceful Muslims condemn the violence in the Middle East on both sides. Have you ever read the Quran? Allah said, "We do not love agressors." Muslims are given the right to defend themselves against an immediate attack, but never to kill themselves or kill innocent civilians, especially women and children. The suicide bombings violate all of these principles and are a terrible sin. There is no "good" or "bad" side in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. People must learn to stand upon our common ground. War will accomplish nothing.

The reason Palestinians misinterpret Islam so, is that they feel oppressed, desparate and useless. This is a terrible and tragic situation. These young men and women feel that there is nothing else left to do. I know many people in the Middle East and Asia. They have little hope, and are very, very tired of fighting. The trouble is that for it to be true peace, everyone must participate, while just a few people can throw the world into war.

And thank you, ChristianGal, and Lexy, for respecting our faith. It is people like you who give us hope for a calm and peaceful tomorrow.

However, I would like to note that Islam is the most recent of the world's major religions, younger than Christianity or Judaism-- the Quran was revealed to Muhammed in the 8th century C.E. Muhammed was the last of the prophets. Thus we are able to read the Quran, sunnah and hadith in the very same language they were written in-- Arabic-- so that we know exactly what was said, and not a translation and interpretation.
