See the entire discussion: Help!!! I miss my friend! Is that normal?.
I met my best Friend in school we played on the same ball team and we got really close. She was from Fl. We hung out all the time between classes and during and after ball practice. Then because of problems that her twin brother was having they move to the neighboring school. I missed her alot but we still got to hang out together even after her team got through beating the tar out of mine. Then after being at that school not even a full year her father got a new job and they had to move top NC. It's been hard but we've tried to keep in touch. She just got her email address set up so we can talk everyday. The thing is even though we still talk everyday I miss having her around. I miss her jokes and her taste in guys. I miss hanging with her. It has been almost two years and I still do not have a new best friend. I have good friends but no one is able to replace Bethany. Should I feel this way after all the time that we have been apart??? Help me some to understand!!!!!!

Hey,
Of course it's normal to miss your best friend!!! The same thing(sort of) happened to me a while ago because I had a really good friend who went to a different school than me but we still got to see each other all the time, but she moved and now I only see her about once a month. But do you really want to replace her? Because you can never really just replace a best friend, you can find other friends, but never one that will be exactly like her. But yes I think you should feel that way, even though it has been a long time, that just shows that you're a good friend!

Hey, I also think as Shelli does Jesusisinme.
It's totally normal to miss your best friend. For, like Shelli said, you can never truly replace that one person that knew you the best and wice-versa. I am sure you guys had told each other many personal things and shared many fun times together, and nobody can take or replace that away. For, all of us in one form or another(whether we admit it or not is another story, but) need someone that we can talk to about the worst of times, as well as share and experience the silliest of things. So, yeah I agree with Shelli it's totally normal that you miss your best friend, because in my opinion that just proves even more what great friends you guys were to still be missing each other's company, after some time. That's great, and so don't take that for granted, but try and keep this friendship in constant touch. OK,I hope that helped. Bye

They thing is you guys I will never want to replace her she is my best friend. We are planning eight grade prom right now and it really makes me remember prom with her two years ago(she went with my brother and I went with one of his friends)and I miss the fun that we had together. I don't even get to see her during the summer. I mean we are planning to go spend a month with her but I still miss her it has been two years. I never would want to replace her. I just think that I should be moving on just a little bit. Not that I want to replace her because that would be losing her and I could never do that.

Well, yeah Jesusisinme, of course you should move on. Although don't get me wrong, I don't mean that in a sense of forgetting your other best friend, but in a sense where you get to know some other people and become great friends with them, as well. Who's to say that one can't have more then one best friend? No one should, because I for example have best friends both here and in Europe. So, don't think that because you might be getting to know another person really well and having fun with them, that you are abandoning your other best friend. No you really are not, because there should be no limit when it comes to how many friends one has. They should be the people that make us laugh; become a mentor through some hard times; they are the people that we can talk to about the most serious things, as well as the silliest of things; when it comes right down to it, friends are the people that love you and respect you for who you are. And they always should make sure that you don't forget that.
See, I have been living in a boarding school now for almost a year, and really have learned first hand what it is like to be away from home for so long, and how much friends are essential or imperative to me, or to anyone for that matter, no matter where they are or what they are experiencing. I don't know, that's just my view on friendship I guess. I hope it helped some. Thanks for reading, bye
