Hey everyone! I'm so glad that I'm getting to be a part of this forum- It's an awesome idea!
So let's introduce ourselves- Get to know one another. :)
I'll start.
My name is Sarah and I'm 18. I'm a senior in High School, finishing up my year. I love to dance, swim, and ride horses. I'm a lifeguard. I'm the oldest of 3, and I come from a very military family. I love birds and have 3, as well as various other animals. I like to write, and hope to someday be published.
On 9/11 I was on my way to school, and I had at first thought that the report I *barely* caught on the radio as I was rushing to get dressed (running late for my 9am class) was about a plane crashing in Little Rock, Arkansas. I was shocked beyond belief when I realized what was happening. I almost had a wreck on the way to school. I had just walked into the library and turned to the tv when the second plane crashed into the towers. Then I learned what else was going on- even though I was a few thousand miles away here, I was terrified because my cousin worked on the 104th floor of one of the WTC towers, and my aunt worked in the army section of the Pentegon. 9/11 hit me very hard, and to this day, I still have an american flag pin on my purse, and a rememberance pin that I wear in rememberance.
So jump on in, guys!! I want to hear about you!! C'mon- I'm waiting!!!

Hi, my name is Joanna and I'm a high school senior in San Francisco. I like writing, visiting art galleries, attending community events, and playing softball. I also believe that youth can make a change, so I am active in the community, contributing in any way I can, through research and service. On 9-11, I was rushing to school and my sister said, "A plane crashed into the World Trade Center." And I thought, "Yeah, right. It's probably another internet hoax." When I got to school, people I've never seen before were piled in my classroom tuned into the television. I looked at my teacher, whose eyes were frozen and hand placed over the mouth. That's what we did the entire class - watch the television. All San Francisco students were sent home soon after because we were placed on high alert. We never got sent home before, even for blackouts. I couldn't believe that some students were cheering because they were released from school early.
Hey! I'M Andrea and I'm a 16 year old Junior from Queens. I go to school atthe High School for Enviromental Studies in Manhattan where I was during the attacks. When I first heard about the planes, I thought "It must be an accident" and "What does that have to do with me?" But then the second plane hit, and I knew that it wasn't just an accident - it was deliberate. My friends lost parents, family,a nd friends. Lucky for me, I didn't lose anybody, but I know people who worked downtown during the attacks.
Besides that, I've worked with SHiNE and YOuthNOise for the past few years (Hey Billy, I've read ur columns :) ) I like Buffy, Roswell, Sailor Moon, Harry Potter, and I'm Wiccan.
Hey Guys!! It's so great to get to know those of you who have already posted- and I can't wait til everyone let's us get to know them..
Already, we're from all corners..
Like I said, it's great to know you!

Hi guys! My name is Renee. I am a 14 year old freshman and I go to Clara Barton High School. This is my first year in Global Kids. On 9-11 I didn't really know what was going on. I was really worried also because my mother andd my stepfather work in Manhattan. But I found out that they were nowhere near the sight so I was happy. No one that I know lost family or friends.
