If you've seen the movie Bicentennial Man with Robin Williams, there is a presence of a World Court after the year 2015. Do you think this World Court, where, just like the U.S. Congress, the countries of the world would have representative posts and decide on the issues of the world, is a realistic idea or pure science-fiction?
I think a world court is a very good idea but it is not too feasible. In order to have a world court every country would have to have basically the same rules and regulations but we don't and most likely we never will because each group of people have different beliefs and morals... If a set of law and regulations could be made and proposed worldwide then a world court could be put in to effect.
Right now there is a big movement to start the I.C.C. (International Criminal Court). One of the main oppenents is the U.S. I think there are certain aspects of it are good (set international law; less one-sidedness if it is done well) and some aspects make me cringe (who would really control it, especially if the US got its way; would some countries be picked on more than others; forcing one culture and set of laws onto un-wanting countries).
What about the Hauge? Does that really do the job and does it step on countries soverienty? I think certain aspects of it do. Have people been following the Milosevic trial? I went to Croatia with Global Kids (the organization running EA911) and so that trial has really been interesting for me personally to watch. This trial sets a huge precedent of future war crimes trials and tribunals.
