Has anyone heard of the casualties in Afghanis tan (not including the soldiers)? I know that many people expect there to be casualties but I have not heard of any mentioned in the news. Have you?

I hear all the time that the war in Afghanistan is killing innocent civilians, etc. I can't remember an article in the newspaper that specialized on it, but people on this side of the border *have* heard by now.

The bombs that slipped and hit civilian casualties are routinely covered in foreign newspapers and many sites online. I've been able to catch a lot of them and I've learned that some civilians were killed almost every day. Their death toll now exceeds the 3,000 who died in America on a single day (the passengers on the planes plus the occupants of the buildings and vicinities that were crashed plus the rescue workers who came to the site after the airplanes hit and didn't make it). American newspapers don't usually cover the casualties of the day, but through editorial columns and through the complaints of many Americans in the media and elsewhere, one can easily read about the side effect of the war -- that people in Afghanistan having nothing to do with the Taliban are being killed. One editorial cartoonist, a few days into the war, drew a political cartoon that showed a grinning George W. Bush piloting a warplane, with missiles labeled "KILLING INNOCENT CIVILIANS" among over things being tossed out of his plane. He got a LOT of venom from patriotic sheep after drawing that cartoon, but most people in the United States seem to know by now that this has been a side effect of the war.
I've heard of a couple of the bombs being "misguided" and hitting cities and civilions being killed.
