many people are indoctrinated to believe that communism involves the state "controlling there lives" (thank you very much joe mccarthy...asshole) in reality thats not true. as a commie myself i think id like to clear some of this crap up. first of in true ideal communism the state has no control. in russia it was different but russia wasnt really communist they just pretend to be. according to marx the 3 steps of communism are this: first the people(proletariat) rise up against the domineering and oppressive ruling class, at this point they set up a temporary government to get things in order, thirdly the government dissolves itself and presto...socialist utopia. the way this works is each business becomes an independent entity (thats right no more fucking chain stores) and they are run not by managers but collectively by everyone that works there. the way a collective system works is that everyone has a vote and has 3 options to vote for each motion, one is agreement, the second is disagreement but not strongly enough to mind too much, and the third is a flat out block. no resolution passes if there is a block against it, thus it is more free than majority democracy which can suppress the minority (because as we all no just because more people support something does not make it right) thus the workers have complete control over their jobs. this is great not only because workers have more workplace freedom and say so but the products become better. if you had your choice would you set up a fast food restaurant or a restaurant that cooks homemade food that actually tastes good. the reason there are sooo many fast food restaurants is because they are cost effective. thus what we eat in communism is determined by what people want to make not what is cost effective. and given that in a communist state everyone is provided for enough to survive it is not necessary to make a huge profit in a business thus you get business making things people want to make which more likely will equate to what people want to buy. sounds pretty nifty to me.
The idea of communism has always appealed to me so I guess I wasnt really your intended audience here. To play devil's advocate [and for my own curiosity about how you may answer], how do you stop an oppressive force from coming into power again without a government to maintain an army or institute a draft of any sort. And without an appointed ambassador in at least a few countries, how can you possibly hope to negotiate away from war and/or get good trade with other countries? And how do you punish/stop criminals?
