Does the media romanticize war? Ê
Of course it does! Anything to get a good story...that's how the media is. They thrive on scandal and mystery and violence. So whenever a war breaks out it's always the top story. Every night on our local news the anchor says "Our top story tonight: New developments in the war on terror." I mean, come on. Of course I'm concerned with our troops over there...I have friends who are in the army and being in ROTC myself it affects me every day..but right now I feel like if they haven't caught that Bin Laden bastard (excuse the French) yet then I don't wanna hear about it. Today I heard something about they found another terrorist guy and are sending him to Guantanamo Bay..but I wasn't really paying attention to it. The first couple of weeks after the attacks, weren't you sick of seeing the towers fall over and over again? I was. And the media dwelled on that for months. I began to wonder what happened to Andrea Yates and what they were gonna do about her...but she's a whole other story. So yes, in conclusion (don't you love my long explanations?) I believe the media does romanticize war, and they will continue to do so as long as there is war.
YES! The media makes war out to be this great, honorable thing.... But basically, you're just going off and killing people. I have never seen how it can be so glorified.

cause the freaking public lets it keep happening. JUST DONT WATCH THE NEWS. its bad enough the american media doesn't even report most of the stuff that happens, or they just take a certain angle. i have a friend who lives in bulgaria and france. both of them hear stuff everyday that the american media does not mention once. why u ask? because everything they hear is anti USA, for example a month ago a US bomb killed 2 US soldiers. hmmmmm why did'nt we hear about that. very very very interesting.

I love the ending to this article. In the end of it it states that just because the war in Afghanistan is not over; the war on terror is not over.
Al Qaeda reward for Western soldiers, dead or alive
Now c'mon, the war on terror will be going on long after we're done with Afghanistan. Bush still has his heart set on destroying "The Axis of Evil." If we end this war when we are done with Afghanistan then we have really accomplished nothing
...punch and pie
(BTW Pintozo, I did read about the 2 american soldiers killed by our bombs. It waz a sub headline on CNN.com and newsweek.com awhile back)
