Ok, I'm going to start a really nasty and heated debate here... Let's hear all of your thoughts on Isreal. Nice messy situation to talk about.
If you need some good info. about Isreal check out CNN
Another good source is Time magazines recent article Season of Revenge
Also you may like to read this interesting opinion piece about palestinians by Orson Scott Card. (Author of Enders Game).

Isreal? What is going on over there has been going on for years. It's nothing new...they're only dwelling on it now b/c of the war in Afganistan.

Yes, I will agree that violence has been going on there for years. But, "they" are dwelling on it more now because the violence there has risen considerably. Also, the current violence in Isreal can make or break a future planned war with Iraq. I am asking for opinions on why the violence in Isreal is happening and how it could feasibly be solved.

i heard the other day on the radio that the israelis hate the arab nations, and the arab nations hate israel, it's like it's a catch 22, one hates the other cuz the other hates them, make sense? why is there so much hate? i mean sure there are differences of opinion and u can't always make everyone happy with what you do, but then again, why does there have to be war between nations over there? the debate about religion and whether or not israel is a real country is always going on, why is it all of a sudden increasing? or has it always been this bad and we didn't know about it?

something that is interesting to look at it in the whole israel and palestine conflicts that have been occuring is the United States position in all of this. WE all know that the US is an allie towards Israel. Whenever Israel "responds" to Palestinian "terror" the US calls it a response. However when Palestine stikes back the US calls it an act of terror and call's for peace.

Terror is killing innocent civilians (ie car bombs, etc). "Response" is going after terrorists or their leaders. There is a distinct difference.

You know I have 16 year old friends who are like training for war, and have been training since they were 14. Also did you hear about how Israel is taking over Bethlehem? With tanks, not 1 kid with a bomb.

Oh yeah, I know... It's pretty messed up that Isreal is retaliating human bombs with tanks. But, I think it's pretty sad that someone as young as 16 (or 14 in the cases you gave) is prepared to commit suicide in the name of some idea. At that age you youngin's should be more worried about your social lives then killing people.

but that is the whole point, they are killing themselves for something that they believe in, if you ask me i might not believe in their cuase but they are fighting for justice in their minds.

I am curious... Do ya' all think if sept. 11th hadn't happened would the media be covering this isreali war? I mean, before Sept. 11th it didn't seem like global news waz that well reported. Now this Isreali war is front page stuff.
Furthermore, do ya' all think things would have escalated as far as they have in Isreal if Sept. 11th hadn't happened? I keep hearing that Sept. 11th changed the world... and yet, people have always been fighting the same battles over and over. Where's the change? The Isreali and Palestinian conflicts were happening long before Sept. 11th. In my mind, Sept. 11th didn't change the world... it maybe changed America in small ways. ex. paranoia
