What are you thinking? Have you listened to his speeches or press conferences? Have you heard him quoted? What about other people who speak to us on a regular basis? Do you have a favorite quote? Please share :)

i dont really listen to his speeches. i find them boring. i mean i love Bush, i'm a republican but i've never been one to sit around and listen to speeches about anything. the only quote i remember him saying was something like,"we will bring the -doers to justice!" -doers! lol! but i havent listened to anybody's speeches on a regular basis.

I gotta kick out of something he said right after Sept. 11th. He urged the nation to pray for the souls of those effected by Sept. 11th. Then he asks us to pray for victory in our "war on terrorism."

Now... Imagine for a second that you are God. Here you have this group of people in America asking for you to vanquish their enemy. Then you have some people over in the middle east asking their god for their enemies to be vanquished. Who's God is mightier? Personally, I don't feel like I need to pray to ask for my enemy to be vanquished... I'm on the side with the bigger guns.

I personally looooove all speeches, press conferences, updates, announcements, photos, articles, etc., related even in the smallest degree to the President, and certain people close to him. I cannot believe what I am hearing usually. I feel so honored to witness all of this, really. Really people the speeches are NOT boring just listen. The word Evil shows up regularly, and there are catch phrases! Catch phrases people! Whoever writes his speeches puts Saturday Nigh Live to shame. Am I alone on this one?

rainydaygirl5  06:30pm Apr 2, 2002 EST 6 of 12
No Gray you're not alone on this one...when they first elected Bush though my first reaction was "here we go, another four years run by an idiot..." only b/c he wasn't that great of a public speaker. Then after 9/11 I began to respect him more. The way he took charge and comforted the nation when we were at our darkest hour..I read somewhere that he is the post popular president since FDR and at first I didn't understand..but we started studying WWII and then I saw the parallels between Bush and FDR. I dunno...I just respect him more than I respected Clinton..but then again how could you respect Clinton?

Actually, I think president should write thier own speeches... I know they don't have time, but still, anyone see where I'm going?

Bushes speeches scare me. Honestly. I just feel that there is no place in this 'New Patriotic America' for people who don't agree with him. Like me. I think that using phrase (such as The Evil One) may be rather... er.... poetic, and a heck of a lot more interesting than Osama bin laden.... But its making him out to be an inhuman thing. I think in war that its important to remember your enimies are human too.

i agree, seslian, to some degree, with the president write their own speeches thing. i don't think they should write their own speeches alone, but that they should have imput from other ppl, and have ppl proofread it and all that, cuz then, they feel like their expressing their opinions, but they won't make themselves look like an idiot if they have a typing error or somethin like that.

i also agree with the enemies are human too thing. i think the reason bush is referring to bin laden as "the evil one" and all that is because how can someone have so much hatred towards america that he would try and try and try to bring this nation down, and then celebrate in our misery? how can a human have so much hatred towards other humans to do things like terrorism? but also, he is a human, and he has the right to be treated like one, even if he has done wrong. even if he is our enemy, it's still important to remember that he is a creation of god and he will be judged along side each and every one of us and he will get his "just desserts".

also, replying to locke, i don't think that ppl should be praying for us to win the war on terrorism because they want our nation to win, it should be that the war on terrorism should come to an end, to end terrorism. there shouldn't be sides like country to country, it should be terrorism versus anti-terrorism. i'm certainly praying for peace, that terrorism will cease, not for the us to win.

Papermonky you're alright :)

Locke  01:26pm Apr 6, 2002 EST 10 of 12

...punch and pie

papermonky  01:02am Apr 7, 2002 EST 11 of 12
he's not a dumb ass, but i don't think he should have asked us to do that. but then again, everyone makes mistakes, so i dunno. we can't agree with everything everyone does, right?
