Redesign! Ok folks =) here it is! Man-or-machine.com Version 3.0. New... improved... ripoff of other people's blogs =) Haha. I'd like to first thank Milz for the inspiration for the new design =) i took some of her ideas! changed them just enough to avoid copyright infringement... then made it my own! (i should have been a TV executive.. i swear..). Also much props goes out to Sunny for the help on the webcam. And last, i'd like to thank Ryan and Steve for inspiration on additons to the website that will be coming soonish.. (so that means i have upgrades in mind before i even released this version! haha, and following microsoft tradition--these updates will not necessarily improve anything... just add to it....)

Redesign.. again
Hey guys and gals. I have a webpage design i'm gonna put up soon. I thought this page looked a little.. "hick" and pretty basic.. and didnt reflect what i wanted it to look like. The redesign isnt THAT drastic, mostly some minor color changes and size changes. The biggest thing would be i'm shrinking the main cell section and adding some content to the left side.
The biggest addition would be the webcam picture, which thanks to Sunny is prettymuch ready to go =) but will only be revealed with the new layout =). But i will give you a breif taste... here is the link to the webcam image. You'll have to manually refresh it, the cam is set to take pictures every 30 seconds (when its on).

Ok, so i lied... Ok, so me not blogging is dangerous.. and i picked one helluv a weekend to decide not to blog. Its been pretty busy, unfortunately nothing i can really talk about!! DAMN DAMN DAMN!...
Part 1: you know what sucks? when you have something you wanna say but the one person you can say it too is not available... and you have to hold it in till you can. THEN! when you finally say it, it doesnt have the same flair because you lost some of the details to time... ARGH!
Part 2: me not blogging made me try to think of new things to do. so what do i do? I go out and buy me a webcam! something i've been wanting for a while now, and today's implulse buy made that dream come true. so SOON... all you lovely people can see my ugly mug online on a daily/semi daily basis. That could either be a good thing... or a horrible horrible torture on my reading public, you can decide that as time goes on.
Part 3: well, because i wasnt blogging... i hung out with some old friends..... Krisma, Lauren, Cindy, Dave, and James. It was my fullest day in a long time. I woke up early, took care of some business.. then headed out to lunch with the crew. After that: Krisma, Dave, Cindy, and I hopped on over to Costco to buy me some food for the week/month. After getting gas, the group split once again and Krisma, Dave, and I went to the mall where we just wandered a bit looking for any PS2 games we wanted to buy. Finding nothing, we proceeded to head down to Starbucks to meet up with Lauren (YAY! i finally visited her at work... i've been promising i would for like 2 years...) After downing a drink.. whos name i cant remember right now. We left lauren at work and went to wallmart. Still not done with our game and electronic item purchases, we went BACK to sac to Frys... where i bought my webcam...
Man.. thats a mouthful =) i neglected the details.. but you can get the jist of it all.
Now tomorrow is pretty packed too. I'm gonna hang out with my spunky kids Christine and Judy, then head down to San Jose for a Fanime Con meeting. Ah.. i guess life is picking back up again, prettysoon i'll be so busy that i wont be able to think! hahaha.

The writer Man, i write a lot... and i'm actually surprised that there are many of you who read everything that ive written. I'm actually very honored =) Thanks. However, i personally think ive been rambling a bit too much, so i decided i'm going to stop for a little while. I'll fight my urges to blog =P for the weekend at least, and just enjoy this time alone with no worries. Summer Session II is now over, and i'll probably work full time next week (unless well.. unless i decide not to.) In about 3 months, i'll be completely done with school... and who knows what will happen after that... so for now, i'll talk to you all later. Time to be alone with my thoughts.
Sometime soon, maybe next week... i'll practice a yearly tradition of being completely alone. NO cell phone, no computer, no tv. I'll just get in my car and drive somewhere and spend time with myself. I know this is weird, considering how much i complained about being lonely recently. But things are different when your alone by choice, and when your alone by circumstance.

Family Luck
My nuclear family is extremely lucky. Why? I dont know exactly, but reading my sister's blog entry about the events of 9/11 puts a few things into perspective. Reading my sister's blog about how my father could have easily been another number in this tragedy reminds me of how much i really do love my family. My first thoughts as the tragedy occured were of my family: especially since my parents are both retired military, who are still heavily involved with military activies and work on a military base. My family... to may outsiders... is pretty disgruntled... disorganized.. and well, not very close. And for the most part that is true. But under it all, my family loves eachother with a passion that is deeper than words: and connects us beyond many barriers. You see, my family, as a unit, is not very good with words. And because of that, we had to develop a way to communicate that didnt involve words. The way we look at eachother, the things we do, and the tone in our voices the times we do speak... all communicate so many things that are very difficult to pick up.
Picking up on my I know things topic.. i think my family life has contributed to my deeper sense of inner wisdom and intuition. This sudden desire to quell our "normal" thoughts and activities wouldnt be the first time its happened to my sister, nor would it be the last. My family has endured many mishaps, many near misses... and will continue to endure far more as time progresses.
My family is not like any other family... my family is special, and i wouldnt trade places with anyone else in this world. I love my family (i might not LIKE them all the time.. but i love them), they are a part of who I am, they helped mold me into who I am today: and today i am proud to be who i am.

Man, my posts are getting long. This could mean a few things...
I'm hella bored
I just have to much going on in my head
I'm finally finding the right words to say all these things i've been wanting to say...
I should be doing something else (schoolwork) and am procrastinating.......
The answer man
People sometimes ask me for advice, and i freely give it to them. Oftentimes people wonder where i get the information that i end up dispensing to them, and honestly: most if not all of my advice comes straight from experiences that I, myself, have had. While many of my experiences in life may differ in specifics; i have the ability to either compile multiple experienes to understand someone's feelings... or even stretch a single experience into individual elements so that i can better comprehend what someone is saying.
This ability i have... gives me an eternal amount of patience with certain events. While for many people, this may be a good thing (and believe me it has its moments)... like all of my gifts, its also a hinderance sometimes... however =) this is a topic for another day.
What i find that i really want to talk about right now is... is something that not very many people know. Oftentimes i've been asked how many relationships i've been in. Yesterday i would have easily answered, "One." Unfortunately, thinking deeper.. that is not really true. What exactly defines a relationship? Is it physical? is it mental? or is it something of both? I'd have to say its something of both, and you can have different relationships with varying degrees of physical and mental intamacy.
When i think of it like that... i would have to say that i've been in quite a number of relationships. However, only one of them has been with someone that i was physcially in the same room with. You see, throughout high school and the begining of college... I was an internet junkie. I was on the internet while many of you thought the "information superhighway" was a new freeway being built. I was on the internet before there were any fancy graphics... before AIM... before ICQ. I used a program called, IRC (Internet Relay Chat) and played psudo-games called "Muds" and "Mucks" (Multi-user dimentions).
It was here that i flourished, and here that i first found any sort of intamacy with other people. I made many friends, and many close friends. And just like the "real" world, i had people who were... to me... more than just friends. Like any relationship, i missed them when they werent around... I would worry if i didnt hear from them all day, I would be happy when i saw them online and we could just talk. (I also learned about... Cyber Sex but that also is a topic for another day heh.. ) I also learned of my jealous nature... i would get angry when someone was on and in a room with someone else, I learned when i was being used, and learned the pain of being dumped and the pain of dumping someone else.
Now, today its hard to count any of these as actual relationships... However, mentally... they are almost exactly the same. You get the same feelings of rejection... the same feelings of connection with another human being. You get the same butterflies in the stomach when you talk to someone you find interesting. The only "real" difference is the lack of a physical presence. This lack of physical presence, gives it such distance, and such a loss of truth; that you never know if the person you are talking to is being real, or just playing a role. This is the main reason that i dont ever really count any of my online relationships as anything of substance. Hell, half the time i didnt really know if some of these people were male, or female. But deepdown inside... i know that i really truely cared for these people... weather it be for the real person behind the computer, or just the image they projected.. i cared verymuch for these people, and i felt the same sadness when i had to see them go.
Now, for me these experiences helped me.. and changed me a lot. It matured me (well unfortunatley only in this aspect) past the typical guy status that i had. It helped me realize that i wanted more substance to people. These experiences taught me to look past images, look past peoples appearances, and discover whats behind... whats inside. For a long time, physical beauty had little meaning to me... and it is still not the Number one thing i keep an eye out for; because what i treasure most in people is whats inside them. What people have in their minds. I treasure listening to people, hearing the sound of their voice; the varying octaves and tones that give hints at the meaning behind the actual words.
Now, dont get me wrong... i still enjoy looking at the fyne phat hot honeys ^_^, but it always saddens me a bit when there isnt much more to some fyne girl, than what i see. And you know what? Its pretty hard to find someone who is hella cute, and has the brains to back it up with... plus is understanding... yeah.. not everyone can be like me (j/k ^_^). Seriously tho, as for me I'm keeping my eyes open.

Final Thoughts Man, what is the world coming to? All this activity and i just feel like i want to do something to help. All those people suffering on the east coast... Its funny, when i first heard about it.. i felt so sick to my stomach. But after i called/contacted all my friends who are in the NY area.. i felt a little better. Why? because none of my friends were hurt, so i'm able to take a step back from all the suffering. Why do I do this? because i have to, i have to find a way to take a step back, let my mind clear. I need the space to thing, and comprehend the bigger picture of whats happening.
in the end, many things seem so petty to me now. My final tomorrow-- its just one test.. i'll be fine; no need to worry. Me being alone: I'm not alone, if something were to happen in the area, i'm sure many people would be trying to contact me too; just to make sure i was safe. My job: No job is ever secure.. and no job is ever 100%.. look at NY, all those people went into work and now... work is no more. I'll find a job, i'll make a family.. i'll be all right.
my thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this tragedy.

On a lighter note
Hey everyone, since i felt the need to be... well physical today. I spent most of the afternoon disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling the weight machine. Its completely assembled, oiled, and cleaned (well sparing a few foam pads that will probably need replacing). It was a pretty tough job, i used up many honorable paper towels, half a can of WD-40, and a spritz of silicone libricant =) haha. Now its time for me to "Work it!"

Right now i feel angry. I know why, because of this mess that somehow showed up on America's doorstep. For years i've watched it on tv, but it was always somewhere else, but now its right here. This isnt a single act of terrorism, its an organized fright fest and murder spree committed by faceless minions of some unknown force. How do we fight it? The world of the free is also the world of the mixed, your neighbor could be your best friend or your enemy. Can you blame all the people who are so afraid of everyone? so skeptical of the world and the people in it? I know i am... how can we live in a world where we kill thousands of innocent people just for our own political agenda?
I'm angry, i'm angry that this could happen in the first place anywhere.

In light of recent activity here in the US... some of my old thoughts are coming back. You see i'm part of a military family, and most of my dad's friends are all current miliatary, former miliatary, or government employee. For a brief time i wanted to join the CIA... in light of events.. maybe it will be a good idea once again =). the only problem now, that i didnt have then, is that now... i actually have people that will miss me, and someone i'd miss...

Music Music is such a, wonderful thing.
I mentioned before that after my grandma Hilton died, i didnt cry. There's more to the story that that. For much of my young life i was prettymuch a cold emotionless machine. I was rarely excited, i was rarely happy, i just took each day as another day and that was that. The only strong emotions i felt growing up where pain and hatred... jealousy and fear. These emotions i supressed fairly well, but as a consequence i also supressed all my other emotions.
However, just as every lock has its key... the key to my emotions rested in music. All forms of music just had this way of bringing out feelings within me. Music has this way of expressing whats on my mind and in my heart, in ways i could never do by talking. Music was my venue, and my linkage to the parts of me that i have been hiding.
I loved music, i liked playing randomly on my family's organ. I had a great time joining the band. I had earphones hooked up to my radio so i could listen to music while i slept. I would hum, i would sing, i would whistle the day away... and no matter what song i had floating through my head, i was content. I used music for inspiration! when i was strugling on a test, i would sing a song in my head to regain concentration. When i began to drive, i used music to keep me awake. When i felt sad inside, i used music to express my sorrow. I guess this is why i like so many different kinds of music, because each type of music can be used to express a different type of emotion, can set a different type of mood.
I still remember the first song i ever sang out loud to someone. "Lost in love" by new edition. I still know all of the words to this song. I dont remember who i sang it to (probably my mom... she made me sing "i just called to say i love you" to her once...). I still tingle a little whenever i hear the song, and as life and love grew... the song grew even stronger meaning to me.
Music, is just amazing... where would the world be without it?

My Weekend Project My weekend project this weekend was... a "Cal Gym" Lets start at the begining shall we?
Last summer, 3 new people moved into my house. Somewhere during all that moving in, this large mass of metal and cables appeared in my garage. The tangled mess resembled some sort of weight machine. I assumed that it belonged to one of the new people who had just moved in, and thought very little of it. As the year went by, i never really thought about the machine (except whenever i tripped over it in the garage) but for the most part, i left it alone in peace.
Fast forward to this summer. I decide that its time to have a garage sale (to clean out the mass of items that have accumilated within the bowels of my garage...) At the same time, 2 of my housemates are getting ready to move out and i begin to think about the weight machine. I ask the two housemates who it belongs to... Their answers.
"That weight machine? isnt it brents?" "The machine? I think its Andrews" "Uhh, isnt that yours?"
Basically... it didnt belong to any of them. I begain to investigate further, and contacted my housemates for the past 2 years.. and discovered that it belonged to none of them. So now, i have a large piece of equipment in my garage. This equipment is in pieces, and i have no idea who it belongs to, nor how the heck it got into my garage in the first place. Mind you, this was not just a simple home gym... upon investigation.. i discovered that its comercial equipment, ment for an actual full gym. Its value when new was probably skirting three thousand dollars.
Well... not one to miss an opportunity (Grin) i think i can sell it for my garage sale... probably make a few hundred bucks off it. However, there is a catch to all this... i have to make sure its all there and works. So what do i do? I spent the weekend trying to piece togeter this machine, a machine i've never seen before in my life... and have no idea what its supposed to look like. HAHA! the first day was the worst, moving it from my garage to the living room required hours of dragging and pushing, lifting... and untangling. When i got that done, i had a pile of metal in my living room (as opposed to my garage... i accomplished so much didnt i?).
But! Victory was soon mine! By saturday night, i had the monstrosity assembled in what looks like working order. It was like a big puzzle, matching holes and screwpoints. matching pulleys and cables and springs. In the end, i discovered that i seem to have all the pieces, and the machine still works great (needs to be cleaned tho...) So now, for your viewing enjoyment.. i give you the final product (i wish i had taken pictures before i started!)
Hey all,
ok =) tis time for a blog template update. Not a redesign mind you, just some cleanup. I'm not happy with the way my sidebar reacts, and i dont like how my tables are holding up... that adds another thing to my plate.. here is the current schedule of events.
Tonight i just went through a huge stack of pictures. Most, if not all, of the pictures are of my college years. Its amazing how, looking through pictures... you can return to the feelings that you had when you were taking them in the first place. For me, i remember how i used to hide behind the camera. I was very afraid back then (and by back then.. i only mean a few years ago). I took many pictures of things and events that i so wanted to be a part of... but was to afraid to put myself fully into it. Gee, i dont know how i survived back then, so afraid of my own shadow. I see how much i progressed these past 3.. 4 years and its amazing. I was 19, but i felt 9... ten years of emotional growth in 3 years is pretty good to me.
Anyhoo =) i'll be putting up part 2 of my picture show soon. Its title? "The Long Hair Years..."

I know things... I'm afraid of myself and what i know. why? because I know things. Call it psychic powers, a third eye, great intuition.. whatever... but i just KNOW some things. I dont know why, or when, or what... but there are some things that i just know.
This is a weird topic. I dont understand it completely, so of course that makes it just that much harder to explain. So i guess lets just start at the begining. When i was little... like in the 3rd or 4th grade, my great grandmother died. That whole day, i felt horrible. I was at school and i knew something was amiss, but i went through the day anyways. When my mother picked us up, she was crying.. and while i didnt pinpoint it exactly.. i knew something was wrong. She didnt speak much to my siblings until we were driving along the freeway and she spoke up.
"Grandma Hilton is dead..."
I cried. I cried for days. Each morning i woke up and knew she was gone.. i cried. Dinnertime came, i cried. Her wake, i cried. And as they took the body to the airport to fly her home... i cried... Then one day i stopped- and i didnt cry again till i was in college.
Since that day, i began to just... know things. Ideas would pop into my head that seemed to come from nowhere. They would be little things... like earthquakes, pop quizzes. I'd know when a friend was going to be sick for school. I'd know when a test was going to be postponed (as seen by my sudden lack of studying..) I'd know some devious things too, like who had a lot of money and could easily part with it. Which teacher had a bad day and was willing to talk about it (thus taking up class time..) I'd know what answer on the scantron was right... by the letter not the words. Through high school, i didnt pay much attetion to it.. i used it to get through classes and racked some of it up as good luck, or keen observation.
As i got to college this insght grew stronger, and it wasnt until i met someone with similar.. "powers" (if you'd even call it that...) that i began to realize that it was within me. And because of this meeting, i began to listen to it more and decipher its meanings. Its a strange feeling, to know whats going to happen... but its not a gift without its drawbacks. Knowing whats going to happen, takes away the element of surprise for many things. for example, one year my friends gave me a surprise birthday gathering. As i woke up that morning, i knew something was going to happen... and as the day progressed i figured it out. Dont get me wrong, i was still surprised by some of the things that happened, and some of the people who were there... but i wish i could have enjoyed the full benefit of the full surprise. In fact, this gift seems to have taken away my whole feeling of excitement! there are so few things in life that excite me now, and only one thing that really can hold my interest for a long time... and it sucks. however, because of that... those few things hold an even greater place in my heart.. and to me are treasures that i enjoy on a deeper level that anyone could possibly imagine. It takes a very special thing to keep my interest.
Ok, so where was i going with all this? I'm not sure. Its just that there are some things in life that i just know. Ideas pop into my head, i get feelings... i have dreams about them. They are visions of what is to come, and what i might expect. Some images i see and are burned into my head so distinctly that i can make out contours and small freckles on peoples faces. These images could stay with me for years before their meaning fully comes into view. Other times i just hear a sound.. a faint pop and i open my eyes and see something that i never saw before.. but was always there... I can find many things that people thought were lost forever... I can find items so obscure that people thought they were extinct. I dont know exactly how i do it.. but i can.. and its something i'm exploring every day... =)
so whats the long and the short of all this? I'm weird =)
