The morning passed without much incident. Roll call at 6, then we went on duty at 6:15. It was a fairly boring post, no real excitement in this area of patrol. But every once in a while they would get a tresspasser, or a refugee from somewhere, trying to make it to the wall. But with current political sanctions, everyone here could pass through without much of hastle. It felt like almost a waste of time for Edwin to even be here, a blind monkey with no arms could guard this post just as well as he could. Edwin couldnt wait till his preliminary training was over, and he could move onto newer, and better things.
Noontime came around and Edwin shuffled off to the Mess. He ran into two friends along the way and caught the rest of the route with them.
"Hey Eddie, how was sector 17 today?"
"Heh, as lively as always James. I think i saw some dust trying to break in... it was intense"
"Hahaha, of course its quiet! with Corporal Cruz on the job, nobody would mess with you Eddie"
"Oh shut up Dave, at least i didnt get stuck with desk duty"
"Hey! my desk is clean and tidy, and i shuffle lots of important paperwork... without me, nothing could get done!"
laughing, they found their way through the mess line and got a table. Edwin looked around, the mess was packed with new trainees.

HomeEdwin bolted upright, almost hitting his head on the bulkhead. It was five am, and his alarm clock was blazing..
"Goooooooood morning, its five o'clock G-M-T. welcome to the bob and john morning sho..." Edwin flicked off the clock radio as he stood. Outside his window the dark sky loomed, speckled with brightly glittering stars. Its been two weeks since Edwin arrived in this place, and hes still trying to get used to all the early mornings.
