Hi, David

Browsing thru Jewish gen trying to find info on my Hungarian side-my
father's family

Found your story re 9/11 so touching. Thank g-d you are OK, my daughter
was working on an account there all summer and finished during the
summer and was back in mid town by Sept-her boyfriend lost his WTC job 2
weeks earlier-a sad thing at the time, but cause for happiness now! Her
best friend was one of the last out of the building-My friend's son and
nephew are OK, but my heart breaks for all those who are not!

As for the dating of phone books-when my parents moved from the Bronx to
Queens in 1967 we got ----well, I started to say we got a name+number
phone #, and that when I moved out to NJ in 1968, I got an all number #,
but suddenly I am not sure about the Queens number.-so it was sometime
in the late 60s that this happened. My friend and her husband bought
their first house in 1971 (they still live there) and it was still so
odd to us to try to memorize all numbers that to this day I call her at
KV 3-4826 (583-4826) The joke was that her husband thought up the KV
exchange because it was easy to rmember-"KVetch 3"

When I moved to Marlboro NJ in 1985 the town had just gotten 972 as an
exchange-up till then all numbers were 526-xxxx, so my neighbors told me
it was hard for them to get used to dialling 7 #s, up till then they had
to dial only the last 4 #s! In Middlesex and Morris counties where I
had lived till then, we always had 7 #s.

Good luck and Shabbat Shalom-Jane Weisel Bosik

PS-my husband did his grad work for his MS in EE at Princeton-1968-69
(or 70?)
